Dr. Jeff Stickel, D.C.
Doctor of Chiropractic
Born: 11/25/1969, Des Moines, IA- I grew up in Pleasant Hill and went to East High School. I graduated in 1988. My mom, Ronda is right here at adio as our massage therapist and Jin Shin Jyutsu practionner. My dad, Richard passed away with cancer in 1990 at the age of 43. While he was fighting for his health I was constantly looking for the cause of cancer. I had heard of Chiropractic and its healing power so I switched from a journalism major to Chiropractic! If someone had told my dad what health was earlier he would still be alive today! HEALTH is when you are HEALING and FUNCTIONING at 100%. Chiropractic ensures that your nervous system has NO INTERFERENCE and thus OPTIMAL HEALING and you can fight cancer, heart disease, diabetes, and all the other things that Americans are dying from today.
I graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic in February of 1996 and started Stickel Chiropractic on Ingersoll in Des Moines in March of 1996. The clinic has been on Ingersoll ever since, but I changed the name in 2009 to adio which stands for ABOVE DOWN INSIDE OUT–this is how your body heals!! adio chiropractic resides in the adio building at 2925 Ingersoll on the 2nd floor.
While I was at Palmer in Davenport I met a beautiful person named Heather Hatten and we got married in November of 1999. She is a very inspiring artist and interior designer! She and her partner, Nickole Modglin have studio 3 on the 3rd floor of the adio building. We have two amazing kids! We have a daughter named Sunne and a son named Shea. They are very active in baseball, softball, dance, basketball, tennis, swimming, and art.
I am very blessed with the best staff in Lisa, Lindsay, and Azra and Courtney. We are Maximized Living Chiropractors and are on a WORLDWIDE MISSION to change the way people look at their health. In the U.S., health is not at the top of our value list. As SOON as you lose your health, it becomes your number one value. We cannot wait for this! HEALTH needs to be tied with GOD and FAMILY as your number one values. When you become a patient at adio, we do our VERY BEST to get you COMMITTED to OPTIMAL HEALTH!!!

I grew up in Glenwood, Iowa and am the oldest of two children. After finishing high school in Glenwood I attended Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas to pursue a career in Medicine and play baseball. After experiencing some shoulder problems I decided to come back to Iowa to attend Central College and participate in baseball and basketball. It was then that I found chiropractic. While visiting my family in Glenwood I stopped in to shadow the chiropractor to see what it was all about. When I saw how well his patients were responding to his treatment, and how much they looked forward to their appointments, I knew it was the profession for me. While at Central I met my wife Tammy and we were married in 2010. We just welcomed our first child in July of 2013, a little boy named Huston. Having a kid has been an awesome, life-changing experience.
After Central College I attended Cleveland Chiropractic College in Kansas City where I completed both my bachelor’s degree and my Doctorate. While at Cleveland I had the opportunity to work at the Kansas City Free Health Clinic where I was blessed enough to see numerous lives changed and people receive care that would have been otherwise unavailable to them.
What makes Chiropractic so great is that it truly is HEALTH care. We are focused on returning your body to its natural state so that the nervous system can flow freely and control the entire body. The human body was created as a perfect system but the stresses of everyday life get in the way and cause interference. Our mission here is to remove that interference and allow the body to perform like intended. Getting patients out of pain is very important but we are also extremely focused on helping our patients maintain their health once it has been restored through promoting whole body wellness.

Doctor of Chiropractic
I grew up in the greater city of Sudbury, Ontario. Although I am fond of my Canadian roots, life has led to me venture to bigger and better places. I was studying Biomedical Sciences at Laurentian University when I first discovered the healing power of Chiropractic. I then switched my degree to receive my Bachelor of Sciences and immediately applied for Chiropractic College. I studied my Doctorate of Chiropractic in Port Orange, Florida at Palmer College of Chiropractic. It was quite the move away from home, but it was absolutely worth it. I graduated top of my class and also received the Virgil Strang Award which recognized a single student for their contribution of the Philosophy of Chiropractic.
In the last year of my studies, I had the privilege to serve on a Chiropractic Mission trip in Haiti and Dominican Republic. It was both a humbling and an absolutely amazing experience. Serving over 1000 people in need in a poor community was a feeling that I will never forget.
My primary goal as a Doctor in the community of Des Moines is to not only get patients out of pain, but to help every single one of them achieve true health. I pride myself in consistently educating every one of my patients, as health begins from the inside out. I love participating in outreach events as it allows me to spread the truth about health to the masses. As a Maximized Living Doctor, I also focus on lifestyle changes that could be interfering with one’s health. My philosophy on Chiropractic is simple; the body has an innate healing power within itself, it just needs no interference. When the vertebral column is out of alignment, subluxation occurs and dysfunction results. By simply removing subluxation through the Chiropractic adjustment, the body can heal and function the way it was suppose to. I hope to help as many people as I can!
