The Top 3 Habits of Highly Toxic People

They Eat Toxins

Highly toxic people don’t read the labels on the food they buy.  The food they eat is packed with so many chemicals and additives, their body is left starving for nutrients it desperately needs to repair and restore. Their busy lifestyles leave them opting for fast and convenience food most days.  They crave sugar, soda and processed white flour, and they don’t know how to break the cycle of junk food cravings.

A Word About MSG:  Did you know monosodium glutamate (MSG) is one of the most common food ingredients in processed foods?  MSG is more widespread than most people realize because it is disguised by alternative names that make it sound harmless.  Take a look at the labels on the food in your kitchen and notice how many contain yeast extract, hydrolyzed protein or natural flavors.  These are just a few of the many names for MSG.  Why is it so bad?  MSG is an excitotoxin that makes your taste buds more sensitive, effectively “tricking” your brain into thinking the food tastes better.  The havoc MSG creates in the brain is linked to problems including obesity and diabetes.

They Drink Toxins

Highly toxic people prefer sodas, caffeine and sugary drinks.  They don’t drink muchwater — and when they do, it’s unfiltered, containing an abundance of dangerous toxins and chemicals.

Highly toxic people are in a constant state of mild to moderate dehydration.  They don’t realize it because they have become accustomed to the fatigue, headaches, lack of energy and brain fog that stems from lack of water.  Living in this state for an extended period of time lends itself to hypertension, high cholesterol, digestive problems, depression, back and neck pain, headaches, weight gain, asthma and allergies, diabetes and even heart disease.

A Word About Diet Soda:  Would it surprise you to hear diet soda is linked to obesity?  In fact, people who drink diet soda are more likely to become overweight than those who drink regular soda.  Why is this true?  One reason is because artificial sweeteners have been shown to stimulate the appetite and increase cravings for carbohydrates.  Even though you are “feeding” the body with diet soda or other nutrient-empty foods, your brain knows it needs real energy and sustainment.  It continues to look for nourishment in the form of cravings. If you continue to feed your body empty foods, it will continue to crave more in its search for proper nourishment.

They “Clean” Their Body With Toxins

Highly toxic people use chemical-laden soaps, lotions, cosmetics and perfumes on a regular basis.  It has been said that before you walk out the door in the morning, your skin has come into contact with over 150 chemicals.  Many popular hair and skin products contain dangerous ingredients like phosphates, parabens, formaldehyde, petroleum, Benzene and 1,4-dioxane. These ingredients are associated with many types of cancers, kidney problems, and neurological and reproductive disorders.  In many cases, the FDA does not require these ingredients to be listed on the label.

A Word About Antiperspirants:   Antiperspirants contain aluminum to block sweat glands, preventing both sweat and odor.  Aluminum toxicity can be associated with Alzheimer’s, impaired central nervous system, poor kidney function and digestive problems[1. J Alzheimers Dis., 2012 Jan 1;29(2):255-73.  Aluminum Disruption of Calcium Homeostasis and Signal Transduction Resembles Change that Occurs in Aging and Alzheimer’s Disease.  Walton JR.  UNSW Faculty of Medicine, University of New South Wales, St George Hospital Campus, Sydney, NSW, Australia.].   Antiperspirants also prevent sweating, which is an important bodily function for removing toxins from our system.  Sweating is good for you!

What to do if YOU are a Highly Toxic Person

If you suspect you might be a highly toxic person, there is good news.  More detoxifying programs and education exist today than ever before.

Detoxifying doesn’t and shouldn’t happen overnight.  Start small and stay small.  Little steps add up and are much more practical.  Make a small change every week.  Americans are used to taking a pill and seeing immediate results.  Following a healthy lifestyle does not produce an immediate result, but when it does begin to have an impact, the change is usually much more profound.

No matter your age or level of toxicity, you can achieve a healthy lifestyle.

Spring is a time for new beginnings. If you happened to get off track regarding some of your New Year’s resolutions, it’s a great time to start over.  Or perhaps there are important things you never started in the first place.
