A Better Way To Get Wings

Many people are addicted to unhealthy energy drinks. Check out the facts about these drinks below and decide for yourself if a quick jolt of energy is worth jeopardizing your long-term health.

America’s overworked, overstressed and under-energized have been consuming caffeinated beverages such as coffee and tea for years, but now an alarming new trend is being seen in children and teenagers.  According to the March 2011 issue of Pediatrics, up to half of all teenagers and young adults are now consuming energy drinks (Redbull, Monster, Rockstar, etc.) on a regular basis.[1]  The real concern, however, is that unlike coffee or soda, energy drinks’ caffeine content is not capped at 71 mg per 12 oz.  In fact, some energy drinks have up to 400 mg caffeine in a 12 ounce beverage.

GET SMART:

Above all else seek knowledge.  While the US doesn’t currently track toxicity related medical visits resulting from energy drink consumption, Germany, Australia and New Zealand do.  What have they found in those consuming energy drinks on a regular basis?  Liver damage, kidney failure, respiratory disorders, agitation, confusion, seizures, psychotic conditions, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, dangerously high heart rate, high blood pressure, heart attack, heart failure, and death.[1. WHAT TO DO ABOUT IT:

Tell the people you love and care about.  Exhaustion is a sign that your body is not getting proper nutrition, proper rest or is not healing properly.  The goal of Maximized Living is to maximize your body’s own ability to heal itself by maximizing your nutrition, exercise and nerve supply and minimizing your stress and toxicity levels.

Energy drinks are robbing Peter to pay Paul.  You’re increasing toxicity, decreasing quality nutrition, stressing your nervous system, all in an effort to gain more energy.  It may work for now, but not for long! Long term use of sugar and stimulants equals lowered energy, gland burnout, slower metabolism, and can end up with the kind of problems listed above from physical to emotional illness.

Think long term.  If you’re looking to get the greatest results possible, add habits that only add to quality years later on and don’t subtract .
